If you remain unrewarded by your tithe then you are not tithing by faith and you are actually robbing God of His greatest joy. And that is to bless His children. If you tithe in faith than you must be rewarded or God is a liar and chiefest of all!
Scripture tells us of a life that is not rewarded by God.
- Not only about the unrepentant
- Or thief
But the one lived outside of faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Tithing because it is commanded, written in law or doing so without faith is a self righteous act. The end is in itself. You might as well spend on food and drink.
Today we will broach the subject of faith living. All things obtained in the Kingdom of God are obtained by faith and apart from faith we can not please God. Hebrews 11:1-6 tells us everything that we need to begin our journey of faith. And friends, it is a journey. Continuously upward and onward. Never still and never ceasing.
Faith is the substance of our life in Christ. It has surety and a solid foundation in the Word of God. There is no other ground on which the believer is to stand. In everything we do we must be grounded upon the foundation of the Eternal Word of God.
The writer of Hebrews tells us that the world that we see and touch was framed by the spoken Word of God. He framed it as the Words formed from His mouth. And I tell you, His creation has been framing their lives in this world ever since. Not by our words alone, but by the faith in our words. That is why many people can not manifest on Monday what they say they believe on Sunday. Your real faith is framing your world all week-long. All believing produces! What it produces is dependent upon what you are believing. So look at your faith. It is all around you.
When we offer the more excellent sacrifice like Abel. We do so not with our tithes, but with our faith in God that our 90% with God’s blessing will produce far greater results than 100% without Him. And friends, if you do not trust God with the part you surely can not trust Him with all!
But when we do come to God in faith, believing that He is and we are offering ourselves, our gifts and sacrifices, we must be assured that He is the same rewarder after as He was prior. He must be, James 1:17 tells us, “that every good gift comes from Him”, Psalm 24:1 tells us, ” that the earth is His” and 2 Peter 1:3 tells us, “He has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness.”
So our framing and living is either done so in honor to God or dishonor of His goodness. We are vessels of one kind or the other. Paul tells Timothy (2 Tim 2:20) that every house has both honorable and dishonorable vessels. And both are useful, even needful.
But there is a distinct difference. • Coffee cups and crock pots• Trash cans and toilets
To each you make deposits but not all do you make withdrawals. God deposits to every one of us. By whom we honor with our giving determines our worth. And from some he refuses to withdraw the wretchedness of our self-centered and prideful living.
Hebrews 7 tells us to whom we pay our tithes and to what end we should expect the rewards to be accounted to our faith lives.
Need I remind you that it is this same Jesus who says in Matthew 23:23 very clearly that though the greater things should not be left undone, “Yes you should tithe.”
The whole of this chapter is pointing to two things: we have a better priest and we have a better covenant. This priest is Jesus King of Peace who now, according to verse 8 is forever receiving our tithes in heaven and bestowing the blessing of the greater (Himself) upon the lesser (us).
The surety of the better covenant is that we are to draw near to God and bring all of our offerings, sacrifices and whole self to God. Fully trusting that not only “He is”, but that “He is a rewarder”, of those who come to Him!So you see, the tithe is not an issue of:
- Money – Cain and Able
- Obedience – Pharisees
- Blessing – Israel in their fine homes Haggai 1:4
- Law – Sadducees
- Or any such thing
It is based upon faith. Your faith in The Living God who calls you to draw near to Him with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. Won’t you bring your self to Him 2 Cor 8:5 Will we really learn to trust Him with all if we have not trusted Him with some?
